Extra! Extra! Read all about it...

My spelling has always haunted me...

I apparently sit squarely between the age of schooling via phonetics & the computer age.  In both cases, one finds themselves at a huge disadvantage!  Either you depend on phonetically spelling easier words like
argument and amateur or how about calendar - why do I always want to place three "A"s in that puppy? …or you let the computer FIX YOUR MESS!
          Embarrassing, I know?

However, did you really naturally, “know”, phonetically speaking, that "Embarrassing" had two "S"s and two "R"s?  Well, good for you!  The point remains; neither, phonetics nor the automation of computer spell check, ever boded very well for one’s memorization of erroneous English spelling rules.  Nor those words who’s origins simply don't fit squarely into the normal fray of the English language.

Honestly, I was as surprised as anyone to even get 8 out of 10 on the test below.   See how you fare?

Your Spelling is Good
You got 8/10 correct.

Your spelling is generally pretty decent. You are prone to a few mistakes, but the mistakes you make are pretty forgivable.
